One Family, Two Ways

Learning Lifestyle Photography

Every year I pick a couple of things to work on, or get better at. This year, one of those “things” was lifestyle photography. “Day in the Life” sessions are a style of photography that truly catches my heart. In “Day in the Life” sessions, a photographer spends a day with a family. That photographer captures a family being a family, fighting, loving, playing, loving. Moments with your kids are so fleeting and we as parents try so hard to capture every moment. Unposed, unplanned, unorganized, and hopefully silly. Some of my favorite photos are some of the lifestyle photos I have taken of my own kids. This being one of my “things to learn” this year, I jumped at the chance to take a workshop from Inloveness Photography and Sally Kate Photography when they advertised One Family, two ways. A workshop focusing on lifestyle photography. They both had their own take and different outcomes of the same subject. I was hooked.

We photographed three sessions. A stylized rockabilly shoot, a family lifestyle shoot (shown) and a bonus engagement shoot. We had an afternoon to just hang out and take pictures. As predicted, I loved it. I am eager to do another one and looking for a family here in Kingman. So in a sense this is a model call. I am looking for a family with young kids to spend a day with me in your home. There will be no cost for the session, other than a model release. These sessions can take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours.
