The Beauty and Timelessness of Extended Family Sessions

As a photographer, I am grateful for the opportunity to capture precious moments for families in extended family sessions. It is always a heart-warming experience to witness the bonds between family members and create memories that will last a lifetime. Recently, I had the honor of photographing the Chavez family, who reminded me of the beauty and timelessness of extended family photography. In this blog post, I want to share my experience capturing their joy, love, and connection.

The Chavez family is a loving and close-knit group of people who value family above all else. When Joselyn approached me about doing an extended family photo session, I was thrilled. Extended family sessions are always fun because they allow for a wider range of pictures with different groups and combinations of family members. At the shoot, we started with a well-thought-out plan for the day, and it was such a joy watching the whole family interact. The grandchildren ran around, the parents laughed and chatted with their siblings, and the grandparents helped to entertain the grandkids, there was even a great-grandchild there!

One of the things that stood out about the Chavez family was their willingness to try different poses and set-ups. They weren’t shy about huddling together, sitting close, and even just laughing and chatting while I snapped photos. I love it when families allow themselves to be spontaneous and have fun during a photoshoot. Not only does it make my job easier, but the resulting photos are always natural and beautiful.

What I love most about extended family photography is the ability to capture multiple generations in one frame. Seeing grandparents, parents, and grandchildren all together is truly priceless and something that families can cherish for years to come. The Chavez family was no exception.

In many ways, extended family photography is a celebration of life and family. It’s about capturing the unbreakable bond between loved ones and creating memories that will last throughout generations. I feel blessed to have been a part of the Chavez family’s experience and to have witnessed their love for each other firsthand. Their session reminded me why I do what I do, and I can’t wait to continue capturing family memories for years to come.
